English version bellow.
Autismus není vzácný stav a s autistickými lidmi se proto v prostředí duševního zdraví a psychoterapie pravděpodobně setkáváme poměrně často, včetně klientů, u nichž autismus dosud nebyl rozpoznán.
Tento tříhodinový webinář zve psychoterapeuty k prozkoumání autismu nad rámec diagnostických kritérií a k hlubšímu porozumění prožívané zkušenosti autistických dětí, dospívajících a dospělých.
Webinář bude veden v angličtině a tlumočen do češtiny. Zveme proto i pouze anglicky mluvící členy.

Autism in Psychotherapy: Beyond Diagnosis Towards the Autistic Person
The webinar is being recorded, and each participant will receive a link to the recording, valid
Autism is not a rare condition, and autistic people are likely to be encountered frequently in mental health and psychotherapy settings, including among clients whose autism has not yet been recognized. Recent US surveillance data identified autism in 1 in 31 (3.2%) 8-year-old children, while an estimated 2.21% of US adults are autistic. Co-occurring psychiatric and neurodevelopmental conditions are also very common. In a large Swedish population-based study of 9-year-old twins, only 4% of autistic participants had none of the eight assessed co-occurring conditions, while 50.3% had four or more. These figures highlight why understanding autism is relevant not only to specialist services, but to everyday psychotherapeutic practice.
This three-hour webinar invites psychotherapists to explore autism beyond diagnostic criteria and to understand the lived experience of autistic children, adolescents and adults. We will examine neurodevelopmental differences in sensory and motor processing, interoception, communication, emotional regulation and relationships, as well as masking, shutdown, meltdown and autistic burnout. Particular attention will be given to autistic identity, double empathy, trauma and the psychological costs of adapting to neurotypical expectations. We will explore how autistic ways of communicating and regulating may be misinterpreted in psychotherapy, and how therapists can adapt the therapeutic relationship, setting and interventions while respecting individual needs, strengths, autonomy and ways of experiencing the world.
The webinar will be conducted in English and interpreted into Czech.
We therefore also welcome English-speaking members.
The webinar will be led by:
